Koker: The Man Who Turned His Back From Juju Music
Olayiwola Olabanji Kokumo, known by his stage name Koker, is a Nigerian afro-pop singer and songwriter. He currently has a record deal with Chocolate City was born in Lagos State and He obtained a master’s degree in creative arts from the University of Lagos. His big bang entry into the music industry cannot make us categorize him a new act even though he is one. His vast display of experience and dynamism with Afro-pop music has carved a niche for us and every single from this young man makes our ears tickle with pleasurable tunes.
Koker began his music career when he released the single “Do Something” in 2015. A song he claimed was influenced by the works of King Sunny Adé, Shina Peters and Ebenezer Obey. Koker’s choice of music is a fusion of Afro beat, Jùjú and Afro-Pop. Koker was featured on Chocolate City’s 2015 compilation album, The Indestructible.
In 2016, he signed an endorsement deal with Cloud 9, an online music streaming company based in Nigeria.
